Paul's 1963 Cadillac Restoration Page

While I spend most of my time creating artwork for Factory 15, most of my free-time is spent restoring my 1963 Cadillac Series 62 6-window sedan. Nicknamed "Fireball" for apparent reasons, this old Caddy is a passion of mine. I traded a really sweet 1980 Camaro even for it in late 2014 looking pretty much as it does now. This page will be used to keep a record of the restoration process. Right now, it is painted flat, hot-rod black with flames on the nose. It has a really nice sea-green interior. No power windows, no AC. It has the original 390 cubic-inch V8 with stock Hydramatic auto transmission. It came with the crazy sidepipes already installed. I think they're coming off as soon as possible. The car runs and drives great. It also has not one, but two sunroofs installed. Not my personal taste, but what the heck, they're already there.

First, I couldn't create this page without introducing my number one fan and helper, Domino the Wonderdog. When not nuzzling my hands or laying on my face while I am working under the car, he is generally causing havoc by taking tools or trying to figure out the complexities of modern machinery. Still, I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Here is the car on the day I bought it. Traded for it from a guy in Irvine, KY. Drove it home at 70 mph on the interstate, no problems. The guy followed me home to get some wheels I included in the trade. When we got to my house, he commented, "Boy, your neighbors are gonna love you!" They do, they really do.

Here is Fireball after having owned it awhile. Haven't done much to it other than outlining the flames with red pinstriping tape, painting the centers of the wheel covers red, and tinting the side windows. Subtle, but nice.

Did a little Photoshop work to see what ol' Fireball would look like without the sidepipes. I was never too crazy about them and after looking at these pictures I am sure I don't want them on there. Looks longer, thinner, and a little meaner. Next job, off with the sidepipes!!
